Ruxana Patel, qualified MBACP registered, integrative counsellor and psychotherapist. Offering an explorative, safe, confidential space.

About Me
Life can become challenging for different reasons. Sometimes it doesn’t feel like you are on the right path. Perhaps you want a safe, secure space to explore past and present issues and focus your attention on self-development and identity. Or you would like to overcome obstacles that are presenting in your life such as anxiety, worries, lack of self-esteem, loss of confidence or relationship difficulties. Maybe you have suffered a significant loss or life change which is feeling overwhelming and daunting.
I can help you to navigate the difficult and ambiguous terrain of grief and adjustment. I have specific experience working with sexual abuse and any concerns around relationships, family dynamics, family conflicts and the impact of divorce and separation. I can help you gain clarity in work-related issues, enabling you to prioritise and achieve a better work-life balance. We will work together to understand what is going on for you to promote self-awareness, helping you to evaluate how your ideals and goals and passions fit in your current circumstances.
The core of our work will seek to facilitate a strong therapeutic relationship which enables healing, growth and insight so you can understand your emotions and feelings to help strengthen personal and work relationships.
I am a qualified BACP registered psychotherapist experienced in private, charity and voluntary sectors. I run my own practice and I am an associate independent practitioner in a private practice in Leicester city centre working with a diverse group of individuals. My clinical experience means I am aware of cultural sensitivities and the importance of understanding my clients through the lens of their unique life experiences to provide a non-judgemental ethical space. I have specific experience in bereavement, loss, trauma, self-development and male childhood sexual abuse.
My approach is an integrative one. It makes use of a variety of theories such as psychodynamic, person centred, humanistic and behavioural. The therapy space will be explorative and analytical, creating a psychological process for your individual needs and presentations. I offer a dynamic reflective space to gain insight and to heal, flourish and grow.
I work with any concerns around relationships, family dynamics, family conflicts, the impact of divorce, separation and stress from work related issues.
What is Psychotherapy?
Psychotherapy and counselling are types of therapy which aim to identify, observe and better understand human issues and behaviours – illuminating the reasons behind them and exploring routes to navigate the often confusing, dark and difficult parts of life.
People take up psychotherapy for all sorts of different reasons. Perhaps they want to explore their emotional difficulties. Maybe they want help to deal with trauma. Or they could just feel a nagging sense of discontentment they want to talk through. Counselling and psychotherapy is one of the most effective ways to help combat anxiety, depression and other mental health conditions.
As a psychotherapist I will help you to work through whatever your presenting issues are to help you reach your goals. Our needs are often diverse and my wide ranging experiences will help me to identify what will work best for you.
Some people like to come to therapy sessions with an idea of issues they would like to work through. Whilst this is welcome, you don’t need to worry about having anything planned before you come to a therapy session, I will work with you to figure out what you need.
There are many ways psychotherapy can help you. Get in touch to find out what I can offer you.
Remote Counselling
I offer online counselling and psychotherapy services via zoom, skype, video call and even telephone.
The sessions are structured to keep within the ethical boundaries all online through video chat and/or telephone.
An advantage of remote counselling is you can access therapy from the comfort of your own home, it feels more comfortable for some and saves time on travel.
